Where is the Calgary Reggae Festival?

Thursday – To Be Announced

Friday and Saturday – Shaw Millennium Park, 1220 – 9 Avenue SW, Calgary

This 10 acre park is on the site of the old Mewata Stadium and immediately west of the historic Mewata Armoury.
Enter the Festival site at the NE corner of Shaw Millennium Park at the corner of 7th Avenue and 11th Street SW.

How do I get to the Festival?

Walk, ride, drive…. Parking is limited. The site is at the DT West / Kerby LRT station. There is a bicycle lock up area.

What time are the gates open?

Friday – 4:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Saturday – 12:00 noon – 10:30 pm

Who is performing and when?

Please check our Performer page and schedule. We encourage you to buy tickets not just to go see one act, but to experience the full Festival of music, food and crafts.

How do I apply to perform at the Festival?

Applications are accepted from November – February each year.

 When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will be on sale starting March 1, 2017. Check out the tickets page for more information. Tickets will be sold on Evenbrite and at various ticket outlets in Calgary.

What do I do with my emailed ticket from Eventbrite?

Print your ticket and bring it with you to the Festival to be scanned on entry.  Or have it available on your mobile device for scanning.

 

What do I do with my mobile ticket?

Bring your mobile device with the ticket barcode ready to be scanned for entry.

If I ordered more than one ticket, do we all need to arrive at the Festival together?

No, you do not need to arrive together. Tickets are based on how many you ordered, each with different bar codes. Each ticket is scanned for one individual, so as long as each guest has a ticket with a barcode, access will be guaranteed.

Will tickets be sold at the gate?

Yes. We do encourage you to buy advance tickets and take advantage of lower pricing.

Are tickets refundable?

NO. Tickets are non-refundable. The Festival takes place rain or shine.

Is re-entry allowed?

Yes, just keep your wristband on.

Will there be security checks at the entrance?

Yes. Backpacks, bags, purses may be subject to search.

Will there be WiFi at the Festival?

Yes, the festival site does have some Shaw Go WiFi areas.

Will there be food at the Festival?

Yes, there will be food vendors onsite with food items available for purchase. Payment methods are cash, debit or credit card.

Will there be alcohol available at the Festival?

Yes, there will be an 18+ Village Brewery beer garden accessible to all patrons with personal identification verifying legal drinking age. No minors will be allowed into the beer garden. Alcohol purchased in the beer garden will not be allowed to leave the beer garden area. DO NOT bring your own alcohol. It will be confiscated.

Where can I dance at the Festival?

Everywhere!

What is access like for people with reduced mobility?

The park is all on street-level with no stairs required to enter. The park is mostly grass. There will be wheelchair accessible washrooms onsite.

Where do I park?

You may park in any designated City or other parking enforcement lot in the surrounding area and follow all parking regulations within that lot. The parking lot south of the Mewata Armory building will not be open to public parking.
We recommend taking public transit or riding your bicycle.

Can I bring a lawn chair, blanket or tent to use during the Festival?

Festival chairs and blankets are allowed. A festival chair is defined as a chair with legs shorter than 8 inches. Please respect the other audience members. Tents are not allowed.

Can I bring my own food or drink to the festival?

Yes, however we do encourage you to support the various food vendors that will be on site. Outside alcohol is not allowed. Coolers are not allowed.

Is the Festival all ages?

Yes, the Festival is all ages. There is an 18+ beer garden and patrons will be required to show legal identification in order to access this area.

Are there kids activities?

Yes. On Saturday the Kidz Zone runs from 12:00 noon – 7:00 pm

Can I bring a camera and take photos?

Only small point and shoot cameras or personal smartphone cameras will be allowed. No professional photography or video recording will be allowed. Please respect the performers and the audience when taking photos.

Will the organizers be recording the Festival?

Photographers and videographers will be on site to record promotional footage.

Will the Festival take place rain or shine?

The Festival will take place rain or shine. Extreme inclement weather (thundershowers) may cause a delay on timing. Please check weather reports to ensure you are prepared to enjoy the Festival.

What should I bring with me?

Dancing Shoes, blanket, festival chair, small umbrellas, small digital or disposable camera, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, valid photo ID card for the beer garden (18+), cash.

What shouldn’t I bring with me?

Bad attitude, framed or large backpacks, knives/weapons of any kind, cooler, tent or large umbrella, video camera, audio recording device, professional camera (changeable lenses), pets, drugs/drug paraphernalia, laser pointers, skateboard, alcohol, unauthorized promotional material.

Can I bring my pet with me?

No. Service dogs are the only exception.

Can I bring my skateboard?

No. You can leave it in the bike lock up area.
